In short
Fireworks are Class 1 and are treated as such, however routine the trade feels. The volume is seasonal, the deadlines are immovable, and the constraint is almost always terminal acceptance and storage rather than the sailing itself.
Why the calendar is the hard part
Display and consumer pyrotechnics move in concentrated seasons against fixed event dates. Ports apply quantity limits and dwell restrictions to Class 1, licensed magazine capacity is finite, and both are contested at exactly the moment everyone needs them. A lane planned in advance behaves very differently from one booked in the peak.

When should a season be booked?
Earlier than feels necessary. Terminal acceptance and magazine capacity are the scarce resources, and both are committed well before the sailings are.
